Guide to hacking your avatar with one simple trick!

Post by LaughingCoyote »

With the addy coin shop and avatar wands, your ability to customise your avatar is already pretty wide. You can dye the colour of it (if it has white/grey pixels) and you can overlay different heads on top, or underlay angel/daemon wings on bottom. But what if you want even more options?

Turns out you can with one simple trick! Because heads/hybrids/dyes all share the same digit location in the item code:
eggmceye wrote: Mon Apr 30, 2018 10:58 am (heads/hybrids) and dyes are mutex because they occupy the same digits in the item code
eg a 4200201 is a half orc (201) half goblin (200) but a 0200201 is like a dark red orc (imagine the brown orc was dyable, it's an example) , the only diff is the 4 at the front (which is a flag that means hybrid, not dye)
The 1 addy coin dyes from the Cash Shoppe are normally only used for changing the colour of: containers, mimic containers, pets, mounts, named items. If you try to dye an avatar scroll, you get a "use on what?" message and they dye doesn't work. However, you can name items that usually aren't nameable with Name Certificates by force equipping the item with shift-w, then using /nameweapon command with the 75 addy coin Name certificate from the Cash Shoppe.

Combine the two and you can get avatar scrolls with weird effects you cant get from using avatar wands and the Cash Shoppe customisations.
One of the side effects is that sometimes the animation doesn't work for other people, you can see it in your client but others can't see it in theirs.

Step by step:
1) Get an avatar scroll (using an avatar or greater avatar wand).
2) Buy a Named Item Certificate from Cash Shoppe (75 addy coins).
3) Force equip the avatar scroll by using shift-w and selecting the avatar scroll.
4) type /nameweapon [WhateverNameYouLike]
5) Buy dye from dye shop (1 addy coin)
6) use dye on the now Named avatar scroll
7) Enjoy!

EXAMPLE DYE COLOURS AND EFFECTS: THIS WAS TESTED ON U4 Child and Phoenix avatars, using different base avatars may give different results!

Black - gives you a priest/mage avatar with a black tint as a background to original avatar - you only see the head and hands as a result. If your original avatar is too large it will cover it up.
Navy Blue - original avatar with priest/mage underlaid, tinted blood red
Royay Blue - original avatar with priest/mage underlaid, tinted red
Olive Green - gives gold coin/pile image overlaid on top of original avatar
Teal - gives spices image overlaid on top of original, + priest background, animation works
Cornflower blue - Null item image underlay, + pirest background animation works
Bright Green - bottom half of original avatar gets phase glowing effect, overlaid on top of glowing coins, with priest background
Mint Green - bottom half original avatar with phase glow, overlaid on top half with spices avatar with phase glow, with priest background, animation frozen
Sky Blue - bottom half original avatar with phase glow, top half with null glowing, + priest background, animation not frozen
Blood Red - original avatar is overlaid on top, cant see effect - test on something small, no animation (changes white pixel on original avatar to black) (same effect as 10ac avatar dyes)
Tyrian purple - original avatar is overlaid on top, cant see effect - test on something small, no animation (changes white pixel on original avatar to blood red) (same effect as 10ac avatar dyes)
Purple - original avatar is overlaid on top, cant see effect - test on something small, no animation (changes white pixel on original avatar to bright red) (same effect as 10ac avatar dyes)
Army Green - Original avatar overlaid by coin image on top, no head, animation works
Grey - Original avatar overlaid with spices image, animation works
Lavender - complete NULL ITM avatar. item description now "av scroll (nothing)"
Lime Green - bottom half original avatar with phase glow (no animation), gold coin pile with phase glow behind that, no head
Light mint green - bottom half original avatar with phase glow (no animation), spices top half with phase glow.
Light sky blue - bottom half original avatar with phase glow, top half with null (only NUL visible) with phase glow animation, animation not frozen
Red - original avatar overlaid, cant see anything - test again, no animation (changes white pixel colour on original animation to black) (same effect as 10ac avatar dyes)
Pink - original avatar overlaid, cant see anything - test again, no animation (changes white pixel colour on original animation to blood red?) (same effect as 10ac avatar dyes)
Fuchsia - original avatar overlaid, cant see anything - test again, no animation (changes white pixel colour on original animation to bright red?) (same effect as 10ac avatar dyes)
Orange - coin overlaid over original avatar with animation, no phase glow, no head, (using squid avatars overlays with dim blue shard on top of squid)
Peach - spices overlaid over original avatar with animation, no phase glow, no head. (Using squid avatar gives null)
Light pink - complete Null, no glow
Yellow - bottom half original av with phase glow, top with gold coin with phase glow, no head
Light yellow - complete Null again
White - phase glow bottom half original avatar, null top half with phase glow

Thank you Milamber for discovering this hack, and Swifty and Milamber for testing out the effects with me.
