A question: I recently tamed a vampire on my necromancer, and despite gobbling down some 200+ bone charms it's constantly getting hungrier and hungrier, to the point that it's now "near starvation." Is there something else I should feed it, or do I need to have it attack enemies in order to reduce its starvation level? Will it eventually just run away?

Edit: The vampire eventually continually turned unhappy. I wanted it for sentimental / conceptual reasons, but I didn't feel it was worth the hassle. I went and tamed a lich instead, and it works ever so much better, especially with the vampire's Vampiric Bite spell in place of Paralyze.

I never kept a vampire long enough to notice that. Its an interesting thing. As far as I know there is no known way to extract blood besides for various quests. Now that would be neat if egg implemented that for using on monsters or npcs or whatever and storing vials of blood. Vampires used to die and leave vampire dust that was used in manufacturing vampyric weapons (long since gone now). I honestly never understood why they were taken out since you can't use amplifier wands or WOTs on them.

Let me know if other undead have a similar problem. I do know that Flesh Golems had or have a problem with that as they need to eat golem power crystals which you cannot manufacture (though in a certain valley a wizard must obviously know how to make them). Small loose ends like that are good finds and hopefully addressed.

It certainly could be a necromancy bone craft like Bone Syringe. A new tool that when used on living creatures draws blood if you have vials. Good find.

So far, the vampire's the only one I had problems with. I trained to over 30 taming on cows (milk cows, feed them back the milk -- it's a beautiful, nearly self-sustaining process) then moved on to undead. I went ghost -> skeleton mage -> phantom -> vampire -> lich. So far undead as a class are the easiest to level taming on, assuming you're a necromancer, since they will always accept a bone charm, even if not hungry; aside from the vampire I don't think they ever get hungry. The only thing that really limits your ability to advance are the necromancy cap, and the amount of time you're willing to devote to digging up graves and making bone charms.

If you're willing to spend on pet res scrolls and spend an hour doing nothing too dangerous (to bond the cow) they're an easy way to get a start with. Once bonded, go out and get the cow to die. Res it, and it'll be so upset (they hate combat) that you can feed it copious amounts of milk before it's maxed out on happy again. At which point you get into another fight and repeat the process. I think the highest I got my taming up with a cow was 33 or so, at which point I got bored and decided to start on Mountain Pass.

Raiko's drake evolved into a white, and stats appear to have changed. Most significantly, whites do not appear to have Heal Self anymore. No data on other dragon types -- this is my first one.

That's odd. You couldn't turn the spell into a tome anyway and maybe egg removed it completely from those dragons (the base chromatic ones only having it anyway). I usually use monster.dat to get my information hoping it is up to date in the construction set. I'll check again (its how I learned of their resistances).
