Enhancing your items

Post by Eidolon »

the fact is, high level players have tons of items and tons of money with nothing to do with it. i think this is a great idea for a money sink.
Keighn wrote:I think I posted something about an NPC merchants located in a very difficult place that could increase an item of yours. Prices should be outrageous though, say 250k per +.

Weapons
+1 = 250k 100k
+2 = 500k 200k
+3 = 750k 300k
+4 = 1million 400k
+5 = 2.5 million 500k
+6 = 5 million 750k
+7 = 10 million 1.5mil
+8 = 25 million 3mil
+9 = 50 or 100 million. 5mil

Armour
+1 = 500k 100k
+2 = 1 million 200k
+3 = 2.5 million 400k
+4 = 5 million 800k
+5 = 10 million 1.5mil
+6 = 25 million 3mil

Now the sucky thing is he'll only improve the item to the next + not your choice. So it is actually going to cost you a hell of a lot more to beef up an item up to +8 than you think. Also, the item becomes "SOULBOUND" so you can't sell it. This would keep the economy within range. And who has that type of money anyway? Not very many.

-----Edit----
What the hell let me figure out some of the other enchants.

Nightvision/Magic Resistance
+1 = 500k 100k
+2 = 1 million 250k
+3 = 2.5 million 500k
+4 = 5 million 1mil
+5 = 10 million 3mil

Vigour/Stats
+1 = 5k
+2 = 10k
+3 = 15k
+4 = 20k
+5 = 25k
+6 = 30k
+7 = 35k
+8 = 40k
+9 = 45k
+10 = 50k
+11 = 60k
+12 = 70k 75k
+13 = 80k 100k
+14 = 90k 125k
+15 = 100k 150k
+16 = 125k 200k
+17 = 150k 250k
+18 = 175k 300k
+19 = 200k 350k
+20 = 250k 500k
+21 = 300k 650k
+22 = 400k 800k
+23 = 500k 1mil
+24 = 750k 1.25mil
+25 = 1million 1.5mil
the prices should be played with but you guys get the idea. they need to be attainable so that people will actually USE this as a money sink, but still high enough so that it puts a nice dent in their bank acct.

red amts are my suggestions.

comments?

I like this idea, it makes gold worth something again. Keighn had posted another version of this with lower pricing I believe. I'm not really sure what fair prices would be but it'd be nice to see that i had some way of eventually getting the gear i wanted, it'd just cost me a bunch of money.

Ok, those prices were pretty damn steep. Here's a revision. You provide the weapon, soul shard, and gem. It becomes SOULBOUND:

Weapons
+1 = 1,000
+2 = 2,500
+3 = 5,000
+4 = 10,000
+5 = 25,000
+6 = 50,000
+7 = 100,000
+8 = 250,000
+9 = 500,000

Armour
+1 = 2,500
+2 = 5,000
+3 = 10,000
+4 = 25,000
+5 = 50,000
+6 = 100,000

Nightvision/Magic Resistance
+1 = 5,000
+2 = 10,000
+3 = 25,000
+4 = 50,000
+5 = 100,000

Vigour/Stats
+1 = 500
+2 = 1,000
+3 = 1,500
+4 = 2,000
+5 = 2,500
+6 = 3,000
+7 = 4,000
+8 = 5,000
+9 = 6,000
+10 = 7,000
+11 = 12,000
+12 = 17,000
+13 = 22,000
+14 = 27,000
+15 = 32,000
+16 = 42,000
+17 = 52,000
+18 = 62,000
+19 = 72,000
+20 = 82,000
+21 = 100,000
+22 = 125,000
+23 = 150,000
+24 = 175,000
+25 = 200,000

And the standard progression applies. That's significantly cheaper.
That was my later version. Of course currently egg has reimplemented a type of transferral enchanting. The new enchanting looks pretty interesting and I need to monitor comments about it in game (since I'm not an enchanter).

I don't know if this transferrance enchanting was a good idea ... but at least it's limited to certain weapons, and hard to use since the wands are a single use rare drop.

I guess I could add a NPC that buffs your weps for lots of gold. Is this purely for getting rid of gold or for letting everyone get a full set of +8 weps?

Getting rid of gold

Way too expensive to fill out uber stuff.

Weapon transference sounds interesting. I can't play right now, so I haven't been able to test it, but a couple concerns:
eggmceye wrote: -the item getting the improved + must be plain, copper, silver, gold, ven, BR only
-the swapped charges are both reduced by 1
* removed BR and ven from drops, so now they are craft/enchant only
1. Swapped charges reduced by 1? Does this mean that you can't transfer a + onto an ordinary weapon (since you can't really reduce +0 by 1)? That's a problem if BR/ven/copper don't drop, since any crafted BR/ven/copper weaps would be +0, basically making transference pointless in the long run.

2. Class vs. class whining. No ebony staves for mages if my concern above is valid (no drops, crafted +0 staves not upgradable). On the other hand, if I'm wrong about #1, then fighters/rogues get the short end of the stick. Vampy is uber for fighters and rogues, but vampy can't be the target of a + transfer? Will mages be upgrading their +0 (crafted) BR staves to +6, with fighters and rogues stuck with whatever vampy + they get from drops?

Well, i dont know if you can transfer with a plain (+0) weapon or not (I'm waiting to find a tranference want to find out :)) but even if you cant you could still take your unenchanted wep and dip it in a fountain and get it a +1, so that solves that problem. Gulnar is right about his second point, why should ebony, which is mostly agreed by mages as the best tint for staves, be transferable but not vampy, which is agreed by most fighters and rogues as their best tint?

don't worry gulnar, it works:

item #1: sword +6
item #2: copper axe +0

after transfer:

item #1: sword+0
item #2: copper axe +5
