I watched your stream live finally, couldn't figure out what you were doing. Also watch your chat box! I was talking to a newbie in there, and helping him along. Pretty cool seeing new players coming to EUO from the stream though.

I find the chat distracting ... I mean talking to myself is bad enough - but I will load the chat today - gunna stream again, it is kinda amusing

And I do think to myself that this must be confusing as hell to watch - I get the feeling it would be better viewing if I actually answered q's while doing it, and be prepared for distraction - and If I really want to get something done just don't stream it

Weekly PD is looking to be a awesome Roguelike in the making !!!

The random maps and vaults are nicely varied. The little added things like making furniture beyond just decorations is very nice ! I would suggest removing enemy monsters from the town though. Seems like a big annoyance to have monsters attacking you while shopping. Hope we can get to play test the changes before it goes "live" for a weekly competition.

I think if you do the NG / stats / skills (no levels) formula you may need to turn it down some. You seemed to just walk through the first 10+ levels with no real danger or challenge.

Otherwise looking dang good :cool:

yeh, well there are 38 levels to go and not sure how well a maxxed out NG char goes vs boss blood wyverns

one problem might be player strength goes up slower and slower but mobs get stronger faster the further you go down

but yeh it's coming together

I know your a fan of NG style stats/skills Egg, maybe you should make a NG one and a PD one. The NG one will need to be tweeked and changed to make it able to be winnable since NG is self limiting. We don't want the "winners" to be just the few lucky players that make the right race/class combination and / or find a Vamp weapon that will let them get deeper then anyone else. Your comment on players getting stronger then the monsters was spot on stat wise. The top levels would be a walk-through until you hit the levels with monsters that overcome your MR , then you would start hurting a LOT fast. (Dragons and stronger). Maybe let us play-test both versions and see which is more fun, and challenging ?

PS Have you considered using the sphinx like statues you have now and just playing with the graphics a bit and trying them out ? Or just resizing the hellcat / phase beast icon and then using the current sized heads ? They might even make a good player race ;)

I'm unsure abt this now (tho nearly finished)
feels p grindy, and lacks the charm of excellent prefab levels.

(am experimenting with putting the number of maps down to 40, and suspect the ng stat cap of 1000 (with 2x value) won't be quite strong enough)

There is probably a gamer philosophical term for grinding. At gaming core for all games there is grinding in one way or another. The question is whether it is tedious or rapturous. Is it enlightening or debilitating to the mind and inner strength of the gamer for continuity into that particular gaming paradigm.

To endure the grind or oppose.... That is the question. Whether one becomes one with or fights the inner turmoil to attempt a different aspect of the grindery.

actually I did end up working on weekly last night and a bit this morn. It's not so bad now: 40 map levels and I thinned out a lot of the boring light mobs early on to make it hairier earlier. Also depends on mood I think: euo grinding is kinda relaxing combined with waiting for drops (metered rewards :fp: )

I do find tho with ng stats that MR seems too high early on, that magic mobs can never do any dmg. This might be more of a problem with a linear set of maps that you have to complete in order. You can't just go to the hardest map you can do as you can in normal EUO: you have to complete the 40 or so maps, and atm my char beefs up faster than the maps get harder. I have addressed this somewhat, but I can't find the exits fast enough. Cld be different with PD levels+stats (using NG builds atm) - so I might try it in that configuration too.

here's my udpate:

I wanted to finish weekly pd revamp by xmas but that won't happen for couple of reasons: not much time left, plus don't really wanna rush it, feeling like I'm holiday mode for rest of year, going camping after xmas. Feel that overall it needs more pizazz and that might take some time. Kinda like working on it so that's another reason not to rush it, so it will be good post camping project for January.
