Post your Anathema clear times!

Post by Comet » Fri Oct 09, 2020 6:22 am

The Challenge: Time your run of the Anathema dragons loop, solo and without dying. Don't skip any parts of the map (e.g. ice dragons, hybrids, 2x2s), but feel free to skip any respawns in areas you've already killed. This is mostly something I did to test class balance using my alts, but if anyone else wants to add data they can! Otherwise I'll continue posting my findings here until egg forces me to stop.

Some example clear times:

Abiesfir, Level 160 Priest 100/Druid 40 (from before priests got zerk stance)
  • 24 minutes (Melee only)
  • 16 minutes (Polymorphed using Flame Strike to proc VOG staff)

Abiesfir, Level 212 Priest 100/Druid 40/Monk 60
  • 13 - 14 minutes, both Melee only and Polymorphed VOG clear times

Takeaways: Zerk stance was huge for priests. Also, I was very surprised to find that VOG spam didn't have a faster clear time than melee at higher level, but that's probably because Flam Grav can be hard to aim, especially against stragglers

Good concept:

I've never done it but is it what you are talking about below (which looks like a dragon loop):

Yeah, thats the loop. One of the most grinded sections in the game.

I did it with pure foils (vamp epee+5), lvl 200, 250 str/750 dex, MR 820, prot and mega pots, using only parry+gouge, execute: took 38 mins

notes:
first time I forgot the ice drags & had 2x bosses
2nd time: focused on getting the parry->gouge bleeds more than the executes

edit:
after getting some proper gear & spamming bleeding eardrums got it down to 23 mins

10 minutes on Jackal, Level 400 necro/mage/druid. Limiting factors are slow walking speed and lag from corpse explosion sfx on too many dragons at once.

I must be doing something wrong (admittedly I barely play this rotten game)

I just did two more runs during boss weekend. These were more casual (and realistic).

15:23 On Abies, 212 Priest 100/Monk 60/Druid 40. The way I did it faster last time was by polymorphing into rabbit form before and after combat to save on walking time. Additionally, I forced myself to lure as many dragons at once to take advantage of Thunderclap and my full set of glass armor

21:12 On Slow, 181 Rogue 100/Fighter 100, using dual machetes. Fighting hybrids was much more painful than when using foils, and I lost lots of time there. Personally, it feels way slower than my foil + machete run because of less interaction.

PD (did a hero clear)

Time: 12 min 25 sec

Thrall, level 1000, 100 fighter 45 necro 30 priest, chain pulling and constantly generating rage the whole way.

Side note: There were 7 2x2s on the run and all of them were blacks or reds.

Second Side Note: Vampy old bandage!

13 min 50 sec (roughly), Raapustaja NG level 1 (:D) 100 human rogue(ranged), 80 monk 12 druid (did not use poly) 500str/1450dex/50int (+buffs)
buffs: feeling great, protection, about 1600 mr
monk was only used to get aspect of the drake (normally i run aspect of the snake if i haven't dropped sanctity for more polymorph+druidry)

weapon: addy long bow ench VF + ebony arrows, started switching to proton decay (felastral +10 addy musket) for fire dragons
as they have silly damage reduction and i could not onehit them if not spraying.

Should probably have hotkeyed the weapons

I never grinded that map myself that much. Biggest slowdown were my own clones, ice and fire drags, having to use a mouse to move diagonally
(laptop keyboard).

Guess that makes me a gimp :D, but atleast i netted one WoT out of it \o/

I want copper slugs (tinkering tinted bullets?) for my railgun.

edit: corrected dunastral to felastral

edit: i killed the sharks, was i supposed to do that? (did not butcher the corpses though, rafting is slow)

11min 30sec (roughly), Bonecaster NG level 1 skeletun 100 sorcerer/80 druid/70 bard,
polymorphed into most evil being, a rabbit using vog and xc with an addy vog shill.
buffs: just bard dmg aura and regen belt (xc and regen belt kept me in health)

quite a bit faster time than the much better equipped ranger i previously tried (Bonecasters gear is relatively junk apart from the shillelagh), seems vogging is pretty good for easier mobs like normal dragons.

Netted a Nihilistic Voulge spear +7 as +20 str +15 dex untinted (i get fairly few random arties on ng).

Slowdowns: low vog damage, accidentally vogging single targets, accidentally xcing when theres a group to vog, diagonal movement.

Killed the sharks this time too, but those are much faster on a vogger

edit: Second run was about 9min 50sec, got a feeling great off a fountain in the first big room and swapped int rings to atk+10 rings.

For statistics' sake, I tried with SirNoobs, which is tanky and slow.

21min 15sec, SirNoobs lvl 194 100% fighter 25% priest.

Strategy is simple, try to get a lot of them together and then boink them to death. Slow but effective, and a big glass tower shield helps.

As a boinker, I used felmythic adamantium Flail of Skulls (ench. death missile) AS +7.

Note: Thorough job, no room / area left unvisited, no mob left alive (respawns ignored as possible).
(aka SirNoobs)
