I totally missed t his thread and didn't see it up.
Limit up to medium or Light armour imho (considering the conan movie he wore from furs upward to a type of coat (maybe it was scale).
(Leather was the tops in ultima 3)
Armor: Light/medium (max)
Weapons: Subclass of fighter using same gear (or similar to necro - war axe, flamberge, w/e) - Fighter weapons seem similar
Ability: dual wield maybe,
Ability: increased rage (or rage never decreases it just stays stored until used; barbarians/beserkers are always edgy) (or store it up to 200%)
Ability: stealth (to hide)
Ability: increased defense and MR as they level
Specials used at less percent.
Synergize 2 specials if at 100% rage
No shield use, no tanking use?
Or maybe different game ideas? Spell-like abilities like diablo, wow, etc? Summon horde like D&D

the barbarian could be to the fighter what the bard is to the rogue. just give it a "rage" ability thats mutex with tactics. maybe make it so the barb gains extra rage, and the more rage it has, maybe it regens hp, or gains as/mr/ac, and maybe it could have "extra" rage, like it gains 1 point of extra rage per 2 skill points it has in rage
