RFC - Polypiling

Post by Keighn »

Gotta say I'm pretty disappointed with polypile as it stands. Surely there must be some other recipes that could be implemented.

The only ones I know are:
3 items = a different item (weapons/armour)
3 potions = new potion
3 ingots+(same) = 1 ingot next higher +
If Dwarf 3 yellows = dwarf brew of some sort (probably dex)
If Dwarf 3 reds = dwarf brew of some sort (probably str)
If Dwarf 3 blues = dwarf brew of some sort (probably int)

I'm sure there's a lot of others but seems pretty small. Maybe someone can post the other recipes or email them to me.

=======================================
Suggestions:
1 snake venom, 1 green potion, 1 ore = venomous ore
1 snake venom, 1 green potion, 1 ingot = venomous ingot (works on even + ingots)

1 yellow, 1 blue, 1 clear = 1 green potion
1 red, 1 white, 1 clear = 1 pink potion
3 blues = 1 mega blue
2 yellows, 1 clear = 1 improved yellow
3 yellows = I refined yellow
2 improved yellows, 1 clear = 1 greater yellow
3 greater yellows = 1 mega yellow
3 browns = 1 improved brown potion
1 blue, 1 clear, 1 white = 1 cyan potion
1 red, 1 yellow, 1 clear = 1 orange potion
1 lime, 1 white, 1 clear = 1 black potion
1 black, 1 lime, 1 clear = 1 white potion
1 black, 1 white, 1 clear = 1 lime potion
1 orange, 1 black, 1 clear = 1 brown potion
1 blue, 1 red, 1 clear = 1 purple
1 brown, 1 purple, 1 ???? = khaki potion (not sure we want a million khakis around)

Any 3 of the same potion (not mentioned) = random potion
Any 3 of the same gem = random gem
diamond, sapphire, topaz = emerald
diamond, fire opal, onyx = amethyst
amethyst, fire opal, sapphire = onyx
diamond, emerald, fire opal = topaz
diamond, ruby, topaz = fire opal
diamond, emerald, onyx = sapphire
fire opal, topaz, sapphire, = ruby
emerald, ruby, sapphire = diamond

3 piles of 100 bullets = 100 arrows
3 piles of 100 arrows = 100 bullets

and thinking........ more suggestions please.

won't work. if you have 1 stack of 100, when you drop another 100 it won't make 2 stacks of 100, rather 1 stack of 200. good thought it theory though.

3 potions = 2 random potions, sometimes you can get Khaki potions out of it. In fact i've gotten khaki pot just randomly, it said 'something strange happened'. Wish i could get WoT's or WoP's with my poly's, as a LOTL i poly all the time. I hoard certain things i find a lot then polypile hundreds of them into other items of same catagory, like Food, i'll save up hundreds of ginseng and get all kinds of food out of it.

I think any specific polypile recipes that fill the job of a craft, should have a high fail rate so that crafting is still optimal compared to poly.

I suppose so, or polypile wands just have greater breakage chances. I'd love to make a spreadsheet on the idea but I don't know the current recipes all that well and I want you all to contribute new ideas. Come on I can't control all the brainstorms out there. Feed the fire of burning minds and unleash that inner thunder.

Had an idea if we revamped the old gems from old enchanting:
Gem Quality list:
*Gem Dust (of the type of gem)
Chipped
Flawed
Cracked
Regular
Polished
Shimmering
Brilliant
Flawless
Magnificent
Perfect

Obviously all gems by default are regular. Placing gem on anvil and using a smithy hammer on it will do one of the following:
1. Break it down by 1 level (actually works on any quality). So you could turn a regular Ruby and smack it into a cracked ruby.
2. It breaks it in 1/2 into 3 lesser pieces. Ruby is broken into two flawed rubies.
3. Turns it into gem dust of the type.
4. Utterly destroys it.

Polypiling 3 of any same gem quality brings it up by 1. So 3 of the same, say normal ruby, would poly into a Polished Ruby. 3 Polished turn into a Shimmering, and so on.

Old Poly Info for gems:
Onyx = Night Vision
Topaz = Magic Resistance
Zircon = Leeching
Amethyst = Vigour
Fire Opal = Defense
Diamond = AS (or attack strength for weapons)
Sapphire = Intelligence
Ruby = Strength
Emerald = Dexterity
old stuff I found wrote:3 enchanted weapons -> 1 random enchanted weapon
3 ench hats->1 random ench hat
3 ench rings->1 random ring

1000 gp -> gold ingot
gold ingot+log-> ash log
silv ingot + log -> silverleaf log
BR ingot + log -> ebony log
copper ingot + log -> oak log
I'll think of gem recipes later.

Basic recipe is 2 gems + item. [weapon, armour, jewelry, rune, orb, rod]
Result is Gemmed Item.

Results add up but not higher than:
+15 Stats (Strength, Dexterity, Intelligence)
+10 Vigour
+3 Magic Resistance
+3 Nightvision
+4 Defense
+5 AS/dmg
+10% resistance.

Any item may have these effects and obviously a combination is possible. There's a flat out 10% chance items will be destroyed.
Deconstruction is possible but results will vary with either nothing, a gem, or an ingot/log/cloth (of tint).

I was thinking of gems combined to create really odd gems but seems complicated.
