EUO 1.2 alpha online

If you can be bothered: (please)

i) download http://swut.net/euo1.2/euo.zip
ii) unzip somewhere new (not where euo 1.1 is!)
iii) copy sounds directory from your euo 1.1 installation into the new euo directory
iiii) use your euo account to play


notes
I really want this to be as close to EUO 1.1 as possible however there are some notable changes AND quite a few unfinished things.

Intended changes from 1.1 to 1.2
* widescreen view
* edible slimes, brains
* added skull keys
* slight differences in loot (eg blank scrolls in chests) but nothing major - post if you think something is amiss
* press c to cast a spell with letters (unchanged)
* press C to cast a spell from a list
* use the above list to bind spells to letters and ctrl-alt keys (same as EFBD)
* you can still bind mage spells with shift-fkey
* to learn spells from tomes use L (shfit el)
* fighter abilities must be bought (from mrs ability in nord) and manually bound to the ctrl/alt/shift keys!
* backstab is now an ability that must be bought and bound - it does not auto-fire simply when hidden!
* fountains need to be activated with 'a' rather than looked at
* bash is a purchasable ability (like a spell, and flurry etc)
* different foodstuffs have different nutrition values (ie feed you better)
* monsters actually level up and get harder as they gain xp
* size up shows everything that the player is wearing
* trapped chests may zap you (cosmetic change)
* to see your rage instead of your mana press #
* pet xp sharing - you get some of your pet's xp and your pet gets some of yours - not much tho, like 20%
* shfit-v toggles old lighting on and off

alpha differences, things not quite finished, known problems
* for testing purposes fast levelling (@) is enabled and 10x xp and skills
* secret doors: currently EUO 1.1 style, ie not searchable, may or may not change
* health scrolls don't show the req lvl in the statsbox - may leave as is
* largescreen is still crap - may postpone for a while

found (& not fixed) bugs:
* none atm

Aside from these things, if you think something is broken or changed or shitty or really good, please post it. I'm trying to change as little as possible with this patch!

binding spells & abilities & special moves mini faq
Q: how do I bind abilities/spells?
A1: shift-fkey as with euo 1.1, tho this is only for mages
A2: press shift-c to cast, then press f1 on the highlighted spell to bind to f1

Q: what are the f-key to shift/ctrl/alt dir relations?
A: shift-dir (f1), alt-dir (f2), shift-ctrl (f3), shift-alt (f4), ctrl-alt (f5) and shift-ctrl-alt (f6)

When re-logining in, your rage bar isn't empty (unless it was empty when you logged out)

Also, I love that you get 6 stat points per level up :)

Another Edit- Secret doors aren't search-able (at least not the one in noob dungeon)

Also, it doesnt seem right that I have 64 Str and only 57 hp

I don't know about the rest of the skills, but the weapon skills and med skill doesn't seam like it is as fast as it should be.

Red potions would be nice to have when you create a new char ;)

LAUGHING OUT LOUD LIKE A MORON, I have an "unknown item" in my inventory

GP doesnt drop from monsters/go into your inventory

None of the Ore spawns seam to work, so I assume the wood and fish spawns might not work either.

rage: rage is saved to player file so doesn't get reset
6 stat points: yeh same as reg (as opposed to pd)
secret doors: same as euo 1.1 reg atm, may change (found that they were blocking tho, fixed)
hp: yeh this is probably broken
skills: dunno if this helps but max skill gain per bump is 1 point
red pots: were missing from config, fixed
your unknown item: I logged in as you and couldn't see it - so still a mystery
gp/ore: pro with lua scripts, possibly fixed

If it helps at all, its weight was 0, I had a sneaking suspicion it was an almost res stone or somethin :/

Just a list of things that dont seem to work at the momment.

- The rogue bit in Cassandra's doesnt work, If you try to move into it, it says its blocked. Also, the exit out of the rogue bit doesnt work, i've tried, even unlocked it, says blocked.

- For the "Skeleton" quest you get from Richard in Izumi, instead of getting a ring of Nightvision +2, you get a Ring of wisdom +2, incorret naming of item or... is it ment to be like that?

Thats all for now, i'll update it when I find some more bugs/glitches. Thats if I find more.

Don't know if it was intentional, but monsters wont spawn (it may just be me imagining it) when you are on the map, but once you leave the map, they will start to re-spawn (until you go back on to the map, so basically its the standard re-spawn, but it freezes when you are on the map), which I think is actually not that bad of a thing if it is a bug.

I was paying a visit to our friendly nord Daemon, Well my cell rang, I come back my kids had bought all the abilities, So now my rogue char has all rage abilities... is this right or did you not get around to fixing it so classes could only get their own skills?

I love where you have only the classes on create a character, and you get to choose what skills to begin with. Especially love how if you make a fighter, you can get any class of wep like in OLD euo... :D just so happy, because created royIII, and got a club, just like when royIII was created long time ago...

I like all these changes! Noticeable changes, but not changed enough to alter gameplay from "the norm"!

Everything I've noticed that seems to be wrong, you seem to have already noted and posted about yourself, so i won't waste time reposting what you already know.

I'd like to see the different races go into EUO 1.3 if you get around to doing that.

Also, I'd like to see fishing and mining and the crafting skills get fixed, as this would definately take away from the overall experience.

I also like how when you're "starving" your skill doesn't raise!

Other than that, it looks great! Thanks for the new update egg!

It might just be me, but sight range may be slightly more restrictive than in the older euo.

Also, spells are listed as "small light" and "minor harm" but i know that atleast I can't remember the names of the spells for the life of me and won't be able to cast them if they aren't bound to F keys

Okay, some thingies I've noticed wrong...

I did the Skeleton Quest out of Izumi, and the Bone Ring was of Wisdom +2, but seemed to give some NV when I put it on.

Another thing is with my sling, I atk, and it says out of ammo (unknown Item), when I have bullets.

Also, when you use a potion, it doesn't become a flask, it becomes an unknown item...

Another thing is that I've found PlateBoots of + 1.. is that supposed to be of def? or what, because reg plateboots give 2.0 def, but these show that they give only 2.0 def...

Although it has it's defaults.. and what will happen to the chars taht are made on here? get deleted?

euo 1.1 is actually kinda classless - so theoretically there is no reason why you should learn them - even tho you can't use them until you get X% in the req skill - so should there be a min skill check? maybe - I'll think about it

well that is kinda lazy on my behalf ... I like how on NG PD you pick two starting skills - I mite have to retro fit that into the client as a option - something else to think about when I have more time ...



Re rings of wis, other problematic items:
there was a bug in the items class, so all the names were wrong - so that will get patched very soon.

Edit: tested HP against reg and it should be correct.

Have to run the patcher by hand. Just run patch.exe. Next version will fix this properly.

unknown items are tradeskill items. fish logs ore are all unknown items. i only know fish are for a fact but based off whats posted already id say its true for all tradeskills.

yeh unknown items (before patch) were fish, logs, flasks - there may still be some more tho.

The torches worked for me in kazadoom, went to iz bank, then they wouldn't work as it got dark. Crazy the they worked like 2 min before.
