Guide to rare items (last updated: 5 Dec 2023)

Post by eggmceye »

 Definitions:

A rare item (for the purposes of this guide), is an item that cannot be normally obtained.

An item can be normally attained if:
- it drops as chest loot,
- any monster drops it,
- it is a quest item (used to complete a quest),
- it is a quest reward,
- it is sold by any merchant (including those in the adamantium coin shop, but excluding the "eggmceye's gear / moar soon" merchant),
- it can be created via crafting (including blueprints),
- it can be obtained via polypiling,
- it can be obtained via deconstruction,
- it can be harvested (i.e., mining, lumberjacking, fishing, water from wells, ash from burnt logs, etc).

Essentially, a rare item is one that you can't get via normal gameplay, and tends to be an old item that is no longer obtainable or an item from a special event.

Vampyric/venomous armours other than gloves. (I dont think i've seen veno gloves tho)
Enchanted gems, like onyx of sleep.
Zink/Iron tinted weapons/armours.
Enchanted weapons with other enchants than the usual. (Colt's blackrock claymore AC)
Weapons higher than +9
Lump of coal

Make life rue the day it thought it could give Cave Johnson lemons! Do you know who I am? I'm the man who's gonna burn your house down! With the lemons! I'm gonna get my engineers to invent a combustible lemon that burns your house down!"

You mean just gauntlets, chain gloves and leather gloves right? When those used to drop with weapon tints?

Er, I've got an unlit brazier. I remember egg telling me at the time he gave it to me that it was rare.

I can't remember why he gave it to me now - it might have been a reward for being the first person to work out how to get Sin'Vraal's Sceptre. On that note, how soon after that did they start being soulbound? Mine isn't - does that count as rare?

There's also armor of (Stat) but doesnt have a +. Ex: My Gi torso of Dexterity. I know there are more of those floating around. And several weapons that are +0. (They appear as just blank weapons, But when held, They are green and say 'Of attack +0") Thems are rare too.

magic wonderous egg - ?

Tyler's hacked stuff
book of power
- I think the glass brazier was for helping to test some new content, but i'm not sure what.
- I think the glass egg was part of the 10th birthday stocking.
- I think the magic wonderous egg is a quest reward.
- I think the book of power is a key for someone's house (just something I heard).

I've updated the list.

There is also a statue of power. These 3 items were keys to get around KoS's clanhall. The statue was AoD's key to his room, the ring was Tylers for his room, and the books were given to the council members so they could get into the meeting room.

I stand corrected.
