EUO - The old editions

Post by Keighn »

I'm rather curious if any of the first install versions are floating around? I have a 1.08d but that's the oldest I kept. I'm mostly interested to peruse the old tile sets and original maps. There sure weren't too many maps on the one I have.

Also, does any one have the first Joshua Steele gfx tile set. I have most of it but I'm missing a few minor items. This one predates the josh set most know. Euo used a few of the first tile set.

I believe I found an old josh Steele Ega patch that even has some gfx not posted. Aka silver moon gate, staff wielding shadowlord and others.

You actually had me thinking for a sec about hosting a 'legacy/classic' euo server
I could restore one from an ancient src code backup, but seriously what would be the point

edit: just restored a 2007 version from backup (inc server)

no because there is nothing in that version that isn't in the current one except more bugs and that tiny screen

LAUGHING OUT LOUD LIKE A MORON, what about an old gfx and music option for EUO? A lot of us ancient players would go for it. One will for sure X-D

i miss that tiny screen and being able to mess/play with different skins. I liked the health/mana bars being in the bottom right and all of that. I miss that shit.

GIMME.

Skins, screen size, and custom loading of music, tile sets, and more could probably be programmed into the current version. Might be a programming nightmare or challenge. I still think the option to turn into ASCII (green) or colored would be different. There's also the 3d engine that euo has. I haven't heard a lot of players mention it.

Ah, I started the thread because I was interested in getting old tile sets and looking at the original maps. Most of the graphics I have now including original josh Steele gfx. I don't have all the old euo monster tiles like the odd looking troll.

It's always nice to look at euo history.

LAUGHING OUT LOUD LIKE A MORON, I loved the 3d mod. It was up for a limited time and was pretty awesome.
