EUO with a CONTROLLER!!!

Post by GoldenGanondorf »

Now I recently bought a xbox 360 controller for my computer to play halo 2. I get it load it and my computer can't handle Halo 2. ( I know it sucks!) So I also have Fable but its not controller supported so I was searching Google and BAM! out comes a YouTube video it says, "Play games using Controller instead of a keyboard: Flash, Java, PC, NES, etc." So I download it setup the thing and now Fable on my computer is cool. After about 3 minutes of playing my jaw drops. EUO......It uses the keyboard. So I try it out and it works. Now let me give you the YoutTube link for all of you who have controllers and are not mages can use it. (Believe me with a mage there is not enough buttons for me there weren't at least.)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S2dfkTWpwVU

Now I HAVE NOT YET ASKED EGG IF THIS WAS OK TO USE. The reason being you can setup key combination and somebody might find a way to cheese it and use it for an unfair advantage. So here is my formal request.

Egg, If you could look into this it would be very much appreciated. I understand you don't want macroing and this possibly could be used to do that. If you could take into consideration that this could bring along a lot more players willing to actually learn the game since not everyone is so keyboard friendly. Also I will not use this until I get the okay because I don't feel like serving a life ban from the greatest game ever!
Thanks sincerely, GG

PS, If you would like to use this method to play please second this.

Yeah, I had trouble with diagonals for a while too. There's a tab on the far right named "PREFERENCES." Click this and you'll see a few boxes you can check. Check the "handle diagonal input as special cases" selection. Then click back to joysticks. You should now be able to map it if you use keypad selections.

Here's what I used for a simple fighter configuration: (with a crappy Saitek P150 controller) [Joy to Key v 3.7.9]

LEFT - Numpad 4
RIGHT - Numpad 6
UP - Numpad 8
DOWN - Numpad 2
UP-RIGHT - Numpad 9
UP-LEFT - Numpad 7
DN-LEFT - Numpad 1
DN-RIGHT - Numpad 3
Button 1 - Ctrl
Button 2 - L-Ctrl, Alt
Button 3 - M
Button 4 - 1
Button 5 - L-Shift, 1
Button 6 - @
Button 7 - Space
Button 8 - H

For a button with multiple keys I didn't do much except (right click and select configure this button). Then I put L-Ctrl in the top box and Alt in the second box. To get the L-alt or R-Alt or shift or whatever look at the special keys box. It should say something like Kanji on/off. Hit the little arrow and scroll down to which shift or alt or w/e you want. Then hit assign button and bam its on the top box.

Now depending on your gamepad or controller diagonals still migh be iffy and I noticed some of my movement didn't register all the time.

I've been doing some testing and Ctrl or Shift + alt works fine too. I guess you don't need the special macro for L-shift or R-Shift.

Le bump. I'm gong to be testing a clone controller of ps3 possibly. Not too sure if it'll be very good. My 8 button mouse I tried kinda sucks so its back to gamepads.

New Version of joytokey 5.2.1

JoytoKey v5.21

I'd recommend downloading it from Cnet. Currently I play euo with old Saitek P150 gamepad and keyboard support. I think I need a better gamepad with more buttons but this one seems quite comfortable.

After I purchase the coleco/atari/intellivision converter. Ill be trying it and joytokey on eftv. I loved the coleco controller esp the super action. 4 main buttons and a keypad + standard control not game pad for movement.

Tried it out, seems really handy for pvp. Being a monk binding everything Id need to hunt is a bit of a stretch.

Easily. I'm now getting into retro controllers. I just need to purchase the product and hope it works.

i had problems with glitches with joytokey and xpadder on the xbox360 wired controller but joytokey works perfectly with my generic usb pelican controller.

I'm currently playing weekly fighter with joy2key and it works really well.
A->attack
B->charge (bound to alt, and charge bound to f2)
X->special (bound to shift, and special bound to f1)
Y->pickupall (shfit G)
start->mani (bound to f8)
another button bound to bandage and another to pickup all

That's actually pretty neat. Can you move diagonal too?

Last controller i used was rockcandy red controller (wired).

If done right you can flawlessly move diagonal. You can make an awesome musketeer or ranged template (go shooter). Mages good too.

For some reason i end up back at keyboard with melee fighters.

yeh, there is a special setting for it tho (if you want to use the dpad like I do)

you gotta then bind dpad-dirs to numpad keys
