I don't have photoshop, I tried to download GIMP but that failed, where can I get scg's avatar editor?
I will add more frames (don't know how to show just the frames though, guess it's a scg avatar editor saving feature thing. Will also make more avatars and probably put them all on one paint page and just post that picture. Might prove easier.

Here are a pair of avatars I've made, in both cases based on other people's work.
The first is a simple, but pleasant, re-colour of one of the standard player avatars, with the addition of an all-new tower shield, based on a historical design.
The second is a re-colour of one of Dolus' bodies (with added bust), and the head re-coloured and stolen from the female fighter. The blue light is all new.
I tested both avatars in-game, and the female one is my favourite. I replaced the Evil Wizard with it, and they look great next to the newer Bandit avatar.

I tried using a realistic texture. Problem is, at 16x16, wood textures (especially bark) start to look like stone... so I'm not sure if this looks that much like wood.
(Also, thanks to everyone who gave feedback for my other two avatars. )
