Happy nye everyone,

I don't know if its the booze or the podcasts I've been listening to or the amazing popularity of pd lately or my excellent helpers or what but I'm more than a little excited abt the upcoming year in euo land.

In case you didn't know, EUO turns 10 in march (tho development actually goes back to 1998)


goals for 2013
- finish and polish the client rewrite
- either make EftV into a multiplayer game or release it as commercial roguelike (probably former at this stage)
- revamp weekly into a sophisticated multiplayer roguelike
- move all NG players to reg, close NG as a standalone server
- make NG and LOTL as character creation options on all servers
- probably also make those rand dungeons regen everytime they are cleared or even when they are entered/exited (like angband)
- moving lvl 1000 chars from PD to reg
- audit all maps, delete/revamp any that are dated

completed
- scrap collapsed mines but make treacherous caves diggable

Mithril weapons for dwarves! :D Remodel the ugly great maul ! New skins ! Maybe a key to sort inventory by weight/alphabetical/newest ?

I dont mean to brag but since i started PD has become way more popular, i make people come to PD from Reg all the time.

I died on newbie island twice on PD LAUGHING OUT LOUD LIKE A MORON, so just wondering if you could put the original Newbie Island back on PD so you don't lose HP until you leave :).

Egg do you think about adding some Emote scripts... I mean some without typing "/me hugs" or sth? like /hug, /bow, /charge ?? with define text eg.
/hug = SiNeR hugs Guard (with your current target?)

Constant Nightvision Underground ("-Works sorta like bats how they send out signals and recieve them figuring out what is where(Making that it only works underground sorta better as if it wouldn't work above ground very well), this would also be shown as everything being shown in grayscale(black/white) as the ability can't tell colours. This could also act as some sort of infrared by picking up enemy locations every 3 seconds (excluding enemies behind walls), like a radar scanner.

closer zooming mini-map than the current zoom function. Some maps get microscopic. Is it possible to turn off the mini-maps showing hidden doors, or hide them until found?

If you're going to be going through all the maps may I suggest changing tiles that are transparent like lamp post, signs, furniture, and ladders into objects the way clocks and fountains are? It would make of the maps look nicer, but then you'd have to change the spots where they occur and place the object there instead.

I know it's a first world problem, but is there any way to let us manually swap between a two handed weapon and a shield without having to unequip one of the gears first? I know we can bind a key to swap between then, but I'm talking about doing that with the space key.

Also, as people commented already, its really difficult to see doors and ladders locations in the minimap. As a noob it's really difficult for me to find my way through the areas.

I would also like to see some skills getting some extra features, like item lore for example. The only benefit we have from the skill is allowing us to identify high level gears, which can easily be done with a scroll. It's way more cool when we must GM a skill to have access to a unique ability, like tinkering and golems.

How will that affect alts with names on both NG and reg? Will the ng overwrite the reg or delete one or both?


Log onto the game via the armoury since it lists all your alts.

I'd suggest multilayers for mapping but I imagine it'd be a hassle. (ie...

1. basic ground layer [floors, dirt, mountains, grass, etc.}
2. rivers, water overlay
3. roadss and bridges layer
4. walls overlay
5. Items placement

I've never done well with the layers in gimp or mappy.

I've noticed pets don't register more int, damage, def, or AS when they level. My goblin has stayed the same for 16 levels with only hit points going up. They might level up to 75 but if the other stats don't increase I see lesser pets as pointless.


edit --

Reopen SPAM guild hall and have the only merchant that sells mystery meat. What else would spam in a can be?

Upon character creation separate head selection from the body (might take some people submitting making new heads to select from).

Armor overlays graphics.

when drunk on dwarven brew drinking another brew doesn't make you tipsy it just puts your dwarven courage back to max.

Was there ever gonig to be more equippable slots for a character? I'll have to look but do sigils replace shields and other parts of the body? BTW, love the paperdoll tree. EUO seems like such a different beast than from 2010-11 (in a good way)
