Random higher order monsters (humanoid) have the ability to pick up drops, especially in mobs.

Since you started on Druids Lord Egg. Here are a few Ideas,
1. Changing form (Kind of like Polymorph for mages) Start off small, first lvl spell change into a rat once a day.
1a. Change into a rat twice a day and a wolf or something once a day.
1b Change into a rat twice a day, wolf once a day and bear once a day. So on and so forth until you become something very good at melee.
There could also be class changes for a Druid when he changes. Rat - nothing. Wolf - stealth and "Wolf's smell". (Kind of like the dwarven eyesight that lets you see through walls...) And for the bear something like extra armor and extra melee.
If you wanted to get crazy with it then what about bards? It could be a support class. Use your lute to inspire your fellow travelers with "Bard Spells". You could have a song for str, dex, int, MR, def, and some other stuff I'm sure. Oh well... Thats my 10 cents...

change to "Staves" skill to a "Misc" skill and group muskets, and like melee as a dragon and whatnot and have the Misc skill classless

hush. carto is just fine! its the easiest way to find +9 weapons, artifacts, and +7 def items.

Yeah, How exactly is it a waste when most artifacts, Tinted +9 weapons, +7 defense pieces (Tinted even), and +32-35 stat pieces, Come from cartog? Mainly seeing as, Iirc, You can only find up to +32 and +6 def items at best from mobs. Very rarely +9's, Let alone tinted +9's. Dont see how its a waste if you ask me..

Takes too much time to find maps, time to find each chest for each map then coming up empty handed with some gold? Not worth it. Don't blood mobs have a chance of dropping tinted +9 weaps or +7 armor or arties? Thought that was why everybody hunts Blood Moor. Tinted +9's yea. But its extremely rare. As for +7 def, No. Level 15's only. Artifacts can drop from about any mob. But everyone hunts moor for the exp for the most part..

creatures drop +8 only. maps drop +9's and +7def and +36 stat. but chests in phases can drop +7 def too (@fawf) not just 15's. i found a +7 def fp in a dragon phase the other day.

The queen dropped a vampyric trident +9 the other day. Phase chest dropped a vampyric long sword +9 same day.
