useless items that make great house decorations. make them random spawns anywhere in the game. they could be anything from a broken bucket, a half eaten corpse to a glowing frog.

Re: Ideas thread 2010
Seeds & growing plants (for decoration or alchemy or crops) is probably the next thing. It would also encourage people to buy a house ^.^ I think also keeping animals in your house would be good (has been personally requested a few times now). Wouldn't it be interesting if living in a house as a pacifist (ie never hunting) was somehow just as fun as grinding. I think that was UO's angle - with it's strict caps there wasn't much to do after you hit them. So when you weren't ganking newbies you would save gold and run a merch and get a bigger and bigger house and decorate it ... So I guess it was just like RL - building your image and status.
One of the more recent pokemon's had breeding but I'm not sure what the point of it was, but as a way of re-introducing pet transfers is kinda the loose thinking I'm after.
Someone said excavation: I thought of this and started planning it in bubbl.us - basically have a huge map of all dirt-wall tiles that you can dig out your own caves - possibly in a dwarf fortress fashion (ie with no real go) or maybe for some other goal.

So bringing back the pet-transfers is something that you was looking for. Okay. I still stand beside my idea. I like the Hunting and Cooking and all the other ideas I said, too.eggmceye wrote: One of the more recent pokemon's had breeding but I'm not sure what the point of it was, but as a way of re-introducing pet transfers is kinda the loose thinking I'm after.

This was in the "NG" thread. This is an Idea for 2010, so I'ma throw it up here, too.Odell wrote:I have been reading and thinking about NG for a while. I came up with this Idea, how well it works, I don't know.
Quests.. ..you complete a quest, and your "stat cap" goes higher? The more quests you complete, instead of getting experience, your stat cap can raise just a little more untill you have completed all quests. This would let you gain more stats while getting stronger and if you don't know where all the quests are, like me, it would just about force you to have to go look for them. It would make you "explore". Your stat cap does not have to go up 100 points, but maybe something in the neighborhood of 20-30 each for Nord, 25-35 for Izumi, ect. Hidden quests like, Sceptre, and Percy, and the pocketwatch, those can vary as to howmuch you get. I know on Reg, for the Sceptre Quest, you can get 20k xp so you can get maybe 200 stat points?
When you make a new character, you can start off with 150. (you already have 75 taken up for 25 strength, dexterity, and intelligence).
So therefore, the more quests you complete, the more stats you get and the more you get to explore and play the game.
bump.

Re: Ideas thread 2010
Breeding pets would be cool if the resulting offspring were stronger based on the lvl of the parent pets. IE two lvl 25 pets breed and make a lvl 1 pet with thats as strong as a lvl 10. Or maybe you could breed imps with some other animals and get the different mephits.
If growing gets put in ill def want to extend my house. Actually I probably want to anyway. Cinister wanted to buy a house I'll probably extend mine at the same time since it would be all on my card.
New ideas:
* purchasable moongates for houses.
* Golems (Chimera) created from monster parts.
* Trashbins that turn items into compost for gardening.
* More puzzle type maps, More riddles.
* Underwater/ Sky tile sets.
* Paintings- Take a screenshot that can be mounted on your wall. Is a generic tile unless you (L)ook at it.
* More trophy type items or titles for quests or that are given by bosses deep in dungeons not associated with quests.
* /title - Lists all available titles for your character. /title (Name) switches from your list of available titles.
* Full armor sets that affect your appearance. or Give extra boosts for wearing it all.
* Items that are upgradable through a series of quests. IE you take a gem to a series of points where you drop it and it gets powered up and eventually becomes a reusable peergem.
* This could also be used to bring back old enchanting somewhat. You could enchant a weapon to a +7 or something and it slowly downgrades and you have to keep taking it to certain spots to bring it back up one lvl.

Re: Ideas thread 2010
I was thinking more along the lines of breeding and lets say you have 2 level 50 fire dragons, when you breed them, you would have a level 1 fire drake, but it would only be equivilent to 1.5x the level. So at level 50, he'll be as strong as a level 75. (and you cannot double breed). That would be a really good way to bring back the pet-transfers. Take 2 level 50, or a level 25 and a w/e else you have, and then breed them. Then you can turn and sell them to other players.
As a side effect though. If the breeding fails, then it would die within, let's say 30 minutes real time, and we can also do the pet can only breed twice. This way you're not selling like a million level 50 (equivilent to level 75) pets and making a lot of money.
We could also add Stables to the house. I know that you have basements in, but are there 2nd floors? And if not, then the 2nd floor could be a stable, and/or garden. Depending on how much space you want. OR, we could have back yards that look like the first floor of Rusty's house. If we could breed horses and cows, we could grow grass and other items for them to eat and then harvest them at the right time for them to eat.
I wouldn't mind spending some money and becoming a GM Farmer Brown. xD
Side effect, some people dont' want to spend money, but they enjoy playing. There should be some sort of town that we can go and buy "lots" to grow stuff and raise stuff. Each lot can be like, 100k. W/e. Or, if we had some more events where we could get more addy coins more often, you can sell the lots for 10-50 addy coins depending on how big it is. And we can say One farmer can own up to 3 lots.
I thunk that there breeding/pet raising/farming idear is growin' into a good'n. (IMO anyways. )

Priests "sword golem" needs fix'n. There is no reason it should be able to hit 500 damage. I personally think that is wayyyyy to high, I have a priest on regular and mine can hit 250 damage at level 158. Maddux on ng is a priest and his can take a blood mage by its self. I think its needs a cut in damage.

Nutshell version:
Sheep->Wool->Warm clothing<-Area temperatures<->World map seasons: Spring/Summer/Autumn/Winter.
Cold->Need to stay warm or suffer ill effects. Fingers numb -> spell fumbling/slow attacks? Potions freezing.
Hot->Need to stay cool or suffer ill effects. Starvation. Dehydration. Sluggish movement?
Elaborated 'Coconut' version:
Since someone mentioned pets that could be stored in player houses. Which led me into thinking, wouldn't it be rather awesome to have a sheep in one's bedroom... Alright, dirty thoughts aside, getting to the point.
Having just endured a nice -30'c degreeish winter of Finland, I thought that it might be cool (in more than one sense of the word) to have such seasons in EUO, too, at some point. There's graphics for wintry tiles, more or less already. Autumn would be pretty much like the current grassland theme, but with reddish forests. Winter would just cover the world tiles with snow and maybe freeze the swamps/rivers, allowing one to walk/icefish on them. Now this would maybe needlessly complicate (areas of) the game, but luckily implementation is not mine to decide. Perks of dictatorship...
I thought this a little further, if there's sheep and winter, there could be a temperature setting, let's say with values from -100 to +100, that would do certain stuff. Wearing warm clothing (wool from those sheep, perhaps) would treat this score as a little bit higher (per piece of warm clothing, naturally) and magic spells and scrolls could be used to modify it further. Not keeping the character within certain safe limits (different races tolerate different temperatures?) would incur ill effects (because everyone just loves ill effects...), such as fumbling fingers for spellcasting and melee hitting, carried items being affected by extreme cold and heat etc.
Forgot to search through the forum before submitting to see if this idea has been suggested how many gazillion times before already. Luckily, I have boots of grounding, just in case of sudden thunder.

Nice. Is the "subdue/cature monsters" refering to that Hunting thing that I mentioned? We could be able to make traps, to capture them. Good for LoTL on PD because they could train that and not have to worry about finding food. (if we could cook it. if there is a cooking thing put in.)
We wouldn't want to be getting sick off of spoiled raw meat now would we?

Ya, I like the achievements idea, but I don't know what kind of rewards it would render other than a nice pat on the back.

Re: Ideas thread 2010
there is no reward other than some mention on armoury or maybe some title change ...
achievements are a new fangled thing in games, some thing that give bragging rights - especially so in the online world. Not sure where they started (maybe gta with it's % completion) , and more often or not they are trite worthless shit (see WoW's achievements, kill me if I use any of those as ideas)

Hey, I just thought of something cool for when the books get implemented.
How about certain books that raise a particular skill's %, like in Morrowind/Oblivion.
Think of it, a random example would be like this:

Likely, this should only be a first time read bonus. It might require a butt load of books even if its just one for each skill, so you'd prolly only want to do a few non-combat oriented skill books (ie, meditation, item lore, woodcrafting, taming, etc), especially since books are meant to offer something other than grind/battle oriented stuff.Egg finds a super rare book (ie in a dungeon sitting on a shelf) entitled "The Tentative Tinkerer." Upon reading it, BAM! +5% skill boost in Tinkering.

1) XP gaining through crafting
2) the possibility to outfit humanoid pets
3) pets should need a tome to learn their new spells after evolution
4) the possibility to teach pets other spells (max. 2 spells) regarding their level
Edit:
5)Chess mini games with different monster and area sets as well as Chinese chess.

Dude, chess would be an awesome mini game! Would we use the same moves that the corresponding pieces use? Or invent our own?
And Chinese Checkers was awesome - I use to play it all the time as a kid.
What about some sort of card game in euo? Or a collectible set of EUO figurines you could put in your house? I know, I'm such a nerd
Hey, why are the portals on that map blocked off?
