Introduction to the monks revision
U/A is going into its own class so it will no longer be usable by fighters, mages etc.
To make up for it, the monk class is going to get a couple of extra rage attacks for u/a and a bunch of spells usable with mana in a new school of magic. They will have stances for applying different damage types
remember: monks get 2 skills - unarmed combat and a magic mana based school called sanctity
basic u/a is unchanged but gains 2 new attacks:
sleeping fist (30% unarmed)
an extremely low damage melee attack that puts the target to sleep for a few seconds - any subsequent damage will wake the sleeper up
throat strike (60% unarmed)
silences the target for a few seconds by asphyxiating them and they cannot cast spells
quivering palm (90% unarmed)
puts the target into shock making them extremely susceptible to critical hits for a short while (unchanged)
sanctity - INTRO
sanctity is a set of mana based utiliy spells with a vaguely priestly theme
* Sanctity is a little different to the other schools in the way the spells bump your skill. Firstly they never fail, but you need a minimum skill to use the ability.
* you need 10% in sanctity to cast a lvl 1 sanctity spell such as 'sense' - you can get this for free from the Ironfist recruiter in Nordhaven.
* you need 20% in sanctity to cast lvl 2 spell, 50% to cast lvl 5, 100% to cast lvl 10 etc
* once you have 10% in sanctity you can then cast sense.
* However you need to find sense. Finding spells is easy .. it's in the section below the list of sanctity spells
sanctity - aspects
the first set of sanctity spells are basically stances that allow you to inflict certain types of damage. Once you apply a stance, it remains until death.
aspect of the hydra (circle 2 - req 20%)
your u/a melee attacks now inflict lightning damage - this is benefitial for battling creatures with a weakness to lightning
aspect of the drake (circle 4 - req 40%)
your u/a melee attacks now inflict fire damage - this is benefitial for battling creatures with a weakness to fire
aspect of the yeti (circle 6 - req 60%)
your u/a melee attacks now inflict freezing damage - this is benefitial for battling creatures with a weakness to cold
aspect of the snake (circle 8 - req 80%)
your u/a melee attacks become poisonous, in much the same way as wielding a venomous weapon (note: scroll of protection does not save against aspect of the snake in pvp)
aspect of the turtle (circle 10 - req 100%)
the monk's skin hardens and gains 20 def and 120 MR
sanctity - utility spells
the next set of spells are utlity spells. Most require a few seconds of meditation before the effect kicks in. Taking damage while meditating will interrupt the spell and it's effects.
sense (circle 1 - req 10%) Sanct Wis
after a few seconds of mediation the monk gains xray vision for a while
heal (circle 2 - req 20%) Sanct Mani
after a few seconds of meditation the monk heals 60% of their max hp - interrupted meditation will not result in being healed
cleanse (circle 3 - req 30%) Sanct Nox
after a few seconds of meditation the monk is cured of poison and disease
teleport (circle 4 - req 40%) Sanct Por
after a few seconds of meditation the monk is teleported in the direction faced
stoneform (circle 5 - req 50%) Sanct Yelm
the monk instant takes the form of a stone statue in meditation and becomes immune to all damage - cures bleeding
levitate (circle 6 - req 60%) Sanct Yelm Uus
after a few seconds of meditation the monk rises into the air and can fly around the continent for short time while still meditating
seize (circle 7 - req 70%) Sanct Rel Xen
an auto targetting ranged spell, the monk channels a spirit wave that brings the target to the monk instantly to face his doom
(kinda the opposite of charge - brings a caster/shooter to you and hamstrings them so you can wail on them with your fists)
astral travel (circle 8 - req 80%) Sanct Ort Por
the monk enters mediation and his/her spirit leaves the body and can travel around undetected. If the body dies the spirit dies also
(this is basically an invisibility spell with a twist)
mirror images (circle 9 - req 90%) Sanct Xen Quas
the monk spirit splits into 3 to create an illusionary army of 3
(2 clones of the monk are created for 10 seconds that act as decoys- however they do very low damage)
phase shift (circle 10 - req 100%) Sanct Rel Yelm
the monk instantly takes on the ability to dodge 100% of attacks
(it's a panic button spell - also it has a very long cooloff - 5 mins)
how to learn the new sanctity and unarmed abilities!
* when you are ready - eg reach 10%, 20% in sanctity, next boss you defeat, the Ironfirst grandmaster will find you and offer to train you!
* training requires first beating is disciple in combat. Once you have handed the disciple's ass to him, the ironfirst GM will teach you the next available spell for your rank!
About the beta server
The beta server (also previously known as the alpha server, but what's in a name?) is a copy of the reg server but with fast skills and high xp.
Beta server is staying up indefinitely for the time being!
how to play on the beta server
i) use the launcher
ii) change the port to 26669 (host is still euo.swut.net)
iii) post bugs in this thread! only post bugs that are not in the other bugs thread!
how to roll a lvl 1 monk!
i) pick monk from the character creation screen - that's it
how to convert to a monk
i) trim your class skills EXCEPT unarmed combat if you have it
ii) go and see Ironfirst Recruiter in nordhaven, and get your 10 points in sanctity
