Couple of skull pics for the spells but I think they could use some work tbh. One I found an touched up. The other I just worked with the best I could and morphed it horrible (the rather plain looking one not the red one).

For Better Viewing with black instead of the magenta: I know and would expect this to be altered a little.

The UNDEAD

Post by Keighn »

My next thing I'm going to do in the lua thread or monster thread is suggest some undead changes for customs. Looking at the xp charts, what undead are summoned per spells, and what levels they're on and I start to think they need some reworking. Maybe I'll post that in another thread even if they're sort of relevant here.

For those skulls you may be able to get away just giving them a black boarder and then having the game tint it the way artifacts are given different glows for bal/fel.dun mystic.

that's exactly right - give them a black border like everything else and let the engine do the glow

Well, those were just to show what they'd look like. Easy enough to fix..... I haven't tested them out though so maybe I'll do that and see how it looks.

Just wondering a few things about necromancers

1- Will priest spells damage them such as undead would. Possibly less damage since they are technically still a living creature.
"In medieval Latin and English texts the variant nigromantia, "nigromancy", is found. This form arose when writers of that era replaced the Greek word element necro- with the better-known Latin nigro-, "black".[5] In Renaissance magic, nigromancy (as necromancy was often called during that period due to its presumed association with black magic) was classified foremost among seven "forbidden arts", all of them methods of divination" -http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Necromancy#Antiquity

2-Will Necromancers have an advantage vs undead characters?
Pretty explanatory but I ask this because they have power to summon and control undead.
3-Will Necromancers have their own versions of staffs??
Such as in diablo 2 with sorceress vs necromancers weapons
EUO the only game you can kill a Dragon while butchering his dead brother at the same time.

1. Why would a priest spell harm a necromancer? In some rpgs the healing spell is technically under the necromancy arts. Becoming a necromancer doesn't mean you're undeath or even evil. But that's my take. Eutopia is a different world so its rules could vary vastly from any other.

2. Good question. What about an skeleton vampyric necromancer? Could he control himself or would be be like airheads and "out of control?"

3. I was thinking of drawing some based on some splicing of gfx.

Or you could screen shot it for me. I'm lazy atm. That's probably why I didn't go that route.. but actually maybe its a good thing depending on which spell is cast. If someone else wants to give it an overhaul let them. I don't like fussing around too much on one thing.

.
That caption I posted under my question kinda explained what I was getting at, and necromancer is a Dark Art and Priest is a Holy Art. Just kinda makes sense as in most all games Light hurts/beats Dark. Just my 2 cents on the matter.

EDIT: I now realize why the skull is a piss color. the vest is boiled (copper) so it has that copper tint. I just copied over the vest cause I new 100% I had a vest. :D

here's what I got..

yours -untouched
skull%20Black2%2016x16.png
mine -eyes/nose/mouth a hint of purple (dark enough to look black but lose the glow effect)
skull%20Black2%2016x162.png
before -yours
before.png
after -mine

Evil lightning, a spell that robs you of 5 seconds and novel

Post by archlinux »

Corpse-born summons need an ability to beed them up majorly, maybe stacking casts of some kind of bolster that use a high percentage of your mana, otherwise summons will never be as useful as XC, or possibly at all, especially with high-lag players or any player fighting anything instanced or medium to high level. Or anyone who expects full experience from enacting the destruction of monsters. I don't see any benefits here.. What would a summoned dragon evem do in combat that would be worth more than collecting the meat? Yeah, it sounds fun to wander around with a bunch of corpses in tow, but what can they do practically to graduate this class from novelty to practical alternative? And if you don't make them stronger, at least implement a mass-healing spell.
