Druid/Shaman Class?

Post by WbBann »

Well we were talking ingame of a possibility of a class that uses totems and stuff. What are your ideas?

My ideas are:

- Minor/greater Heal totems, that when you cast the spell it comes up and heals your for minor health into the totem is destroyed.
- Attack totems, different totems cast attack spells?
- Summon totems, totems that summon weak monsters into the totem is destroyed, the higher the intelligence the stronger the monsters?
- Stat totems that increase stats, the higher the intelligence = more stats.

And obviously I think totems could work different ways to give the class a unique feel... Such as force field barriers to stop monsters getting to the party, fear totems that stop scare monsters away etc...

I think the class should be highly based around intelligence, but maybe a possibility to make them strong melee fighters? So there main stat will be intelligence, then str, then dex. Perhaps the higher the intelligence the greater the effect on the spells the totems cast will do. So a lvl 1 druid/shaman heal totem will heal 5 hp but a lvl 50 with 200 intelligence will recover for like 30 hp or however the calculation is done.

I'd be really interested in this class!

Shaman seems really cool. I like the totems idea a pretty good bit. I just don't want shamans (if they were added in) taking spells from the mage's arsenal.

Also, in WoW. Druids are things/people that have close connections to nature itself. In WoW, Druids can shapeshift to Bears, Cats (Exotic ones, and other forms of animals. It would be cool to see one of these in EUO.

Priests support already, seems like it would make more sense for them to fill a role not already beaten into the ground. The shapeshifts seem like they would be interesting, but VYR isn't exactly amazing, so unless druid made much better use of form changing abilities I can't see ever using them. Some kind of melee oriented caster would be cool.

I'd rather see buffing totems than attacking or summoning totems. Turtle Totem increases defense/MR. Rabbit Totem increases attack speed and dodge. Stuff like that.

Druids/shamans for me would be a buff/debuff class, with a hp siphon attack.

I believe that Egg planned to insert druids into the game along with Bard and Necromancer (and monk, which has been added).

Either way, these ideas seem pretty cool. I've even made some polymorphing sprites of animals for the druid class before.

Holy crap, that's a lot of classes. Even ones he's never even told us about

But like you said, it's just a possibility.

Due to farming we have a lot of plant sprites, which could be used as summons for Druids.

In general:
- plants can be summoned with seeds.
- they grow in some seconds and die after maybe 30 seconds or so
- plants are immobile
- Tree Ents and Forest Golems can be summoned

Plants:
- Blood Moos: melee attack that leeches Hp (transferred to druid)
- Mushrooms: poisons everything in a certain radius around plant
- Apple Trees: range attack (like Ettin)
- Rose: charms mobs
- Onion: blinds mobs
- Tulip: Sleep Wind
- Creeper plants like tomato, bell pepper: immobilize mobs
and so on

Totems of Power (functioning similar to Fire wards and healing wards with different powers): [creds to Ozy's great art]

made some totems of my own (well, 2 are just re-edits of my old flags)

from left to right

1 Totem of the Serpent's Venom (damages surrounding enemies slightly and poisons them)
2 Totem of the Eagle's Eye (your attacks will never miss, reveals hidden enemies)
3 Totem of the Gazelle's Speed (your attacks are faster, and movement speed is faster within the totems reach)
4 Totem of the Mother Bear (while within range of reach, you and your allies health will regenerate a certain small amount every second or so)

Also, some other ideas:

Totem of the Huge Crab's Strength (already drew one for the flags): Defense is amplified to 125% percent
Totem of the Crocodile's Jaw (already drew one for the flags): Attack strength is amplified to 125% (caster only)
Totem of the Crow's Claw: Every 5 seconds it randomly picks a near-death enemy (HP < 10%) and destroy's them. Doesn't work on bosses
Totem of Fire Fly's Light: Basically a stationary magic torch

Just a thought, but shouldn't druids be able to morph into different creatures? IE wolf or somethin.

A druid in euo would probably be better if it was a druid like in diablo. Honestly I can't see any summon/totems helping you in Blood moore. But I could see a werebear kicking some blood tail. But instead of changing into a bear it could be setup like the summon dragon spell. A certain amount of Str/Int lets you become stronger. So starting out you change into a Imp, then a daemon then a fire daemon then a bally.
EUO the only game you can kill a Dragon while butchering his dead brother at the same time.
